Hips begone

By Joni Hyde of WorkoutsForWomen.com

Hips are unique to women. While men also have them, they rarely present problems for their physique. But for women, they can be quite a battle. This is one of the reasons that women need different workouts than men.

Female hips are structured wider for a reason --- child bearing. Hips make a woman. But it is an area where fat accumulates easily. However, a hip structure that is too small decreases the look of femininity. In any case, all women need hip work.

Almost all women want to firm up their hips, thighs and buttocks. Lower bodywork burns the most calories and is the key to a feminine physique. Since movement is the secret of bodyfat reduction, to reduce in the area of hips and thighs, perform lower body exercises at least four days per week.

In the past, researchers thought aerobics alone was the best way to go when trying to reduce body fat. But now, they have realized that aerobics alone will compromise muscle tone, and if you don't have muscle tone, your metabolism slows down and your body ends up storing more fat. This results in many women looking thin, yet loose or flabby.

A far better approach to weight loss is to develop muscle tone in a program that incorporates aerobics as part of a total body-conditioning program. In this way the exercise program will promote calorie burning during exercise and help create muscle tone to continue burning calories long after exercise.
